Multiculturalism is a discourse for academics and practitioners in various fields of life in Indonesia today. Multicultural is a discourse in the field of culture in a broad sense, such as developing the identity of a community group, likewise in developing a nation-state, a sense of identity of that national group is needed. A multicultural approach in language teaching aims to create an inclusive learning environment by respecting students' cultural diversity. This article explores the importance of integrating multicultural aspects in the language learning curriculum, which includes cultural understanding, tolerance, and respect for differences. A multicultural approach must instill life values that reflect the character and national identity of the Indonesian nation. There are four main characteristics of the nation that must be reflected by Indonesian society, namely religious humans, humans as individuals, social humans, and humans as citizens of the nation. By adopting this approach, it is hoped that students can develop language skills effectively while increasing intercultural awareness.
