Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) assessment planning carried out by teachers in differentiated learning, (2) assessment and mapping process (needs, interests and learning styles) of students carried out by teachers in differentiated learning, and (3) process and results of differentiated learning of folklore material at SD N 01 Doplang, Karanganyar Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach, with a nativistic naturalistic paradigm, with a single case study. Data: (1) planning of differentiated learning assessments were collected using observation techniques, by reviewing teaching modules made by teachers, and interviews with teachers (2) Diagnostic assessment data for the mapping process (needs, interests, and learning styles) were collected using interview techniques with teachers and (3) Learning outcome data were collected using written assessment techniques. Data validity was carried out by triangulation (methods and informants). Data analysis applied the interactive analysis model of Miles & Huberman. Based on the data collected, it can be concluded that (1) teachers do not prepare diagnostic assessment plans properly. (2) assessment in the teaching module cannot be carried out by teachers to identify needs, interests and learning styles, because teachers do not make diagnostic assessments at the beginning (3) teachers carry out mapping for differentiated learning based on students' real daily abilities (more focused on students' reading abilities). (4) assessment of differentiated learning with national folklore material (not local folklore) shows an average score of (50.7) which is better than local folklore material (47.3). (5) assessment of differentiated learning with local folklore material with the title Telaga Madirda is the best with an average score (49.4) than the local story material with two other titles: Eyang Joboleko with an average score (48.4), and Sunan Lawu, with an average score (44.2).
