Abstract

The problem in this study is the phenomenon of job hopping in millennial generation workers where they tend to move to other workplaces even in a short time. This research aims to find out the motives underlying job hopping in workers, the positive and negative impacts of job hopping, and the phenomenon of job hopping in the millennial generation in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is literature study. The results of this study are the motives underlying job hopping consist of two motives, namely the escape motive and the advancement motive. The positive impact of job hopping is the career development of employees, while the negative impact is that the company's productivity is not optimal because it has to spend money on recruitment. The phenomenon of job hopping in the millennial generation during the COVID-19 pandemic is not like before the COVID-19 pandemic. The conclusion is that job hopping has several underlying motives, has positive and negative impacts for workers and companies and the job hopping phenomenon during the COVID-19 pandemic is not as much as before the pandemic because workers are afraid of the difficulty of finding a job.
